When you're getting ready to put your home on the real estate market, you might work hard to clear out the clutter and apply fresh paint in each room. However, while these jobs can make your home look more attractive on the inside, you don't want to forget about your property's outside appearance either! Potential homebuyers will usually do a tour of the yard and check the home's exterior before making a buying decision, so note a few tasks you don't want to overlook when it comes to making the property look as good on the outside as it does on the inside.

Cleaning

It goes without saying that you want to give the outside of your home a good power washing before you put it on the market, but some homeowners might overlook certain exterior areas that need washing. To ensure a thorough exterior clean, be sure to wash the roof, the chimney, the tops and undersides of awnings, any outside deck, patio, gazebo, or pergola, and your home's garage and shed. Consider that no outside surface of your property should go untouched, and this can ensure a thorough exterior cleaning.

Repairing surfaces

Along with cleaning, you want to make needed repairs to outside surfaces. This can mean patching concrete in walkways or driveways, replacing broken patio pavers, filling in holes in a wood deck with putty, and doing the same for a front or back porch. You may have learned to live with these minor imperfections over the years, but they can make your entire property seem rundown and in disrepair to a potential homebuyers.

Clearing the land

It's good to clean up your property and make the lawn itself look more presentable before showing your home. Clear away any brush, twigs, and other such debris, and trim back hedges and shrubbery. Trim flower bushes if they're overgrown or have any decaying, wilted flowers. Edge the property after mowing, as this gives the yard a trimmed and manicured look.

Also, prune trees on your property so that no branches are hanging too low, touching power lines, or scraping the house or garage.
